Global Manufacturing 101: What Goes Into a Great Pair of Jeans
Let’s talk about something we get asked a lot: “Why don’t you just make your jeans in the U.S.?”
It’s a fair question. But like most things in fashion (and life), the answer isn’t so simple.
It’s Not Just About Where — It’s About How
While “Made in the USA” sounds great, the truth is, denim production infrastructure just isn’t what it used to be. Most U.S. factories don’t have the capacity to produce the kind of quality we’re after—not without huge investments, long timelines, and higher costs that would directly impact you.
And by “impact,” we mean price. A lot of it.
For small, independent brands like ours, those costs don’t just disappear—they get passed along. So instead, we work with trusted partners overseas who help us make incredible denim that feels great, fits better, and lasts longer.
Our Partners, Our People
We work with a handful of responsible, certified factories in China, Pakistan, and other Southeast Asian countries—factories that recycle water, invest in clean dyeing tech, and offer benefits like paid maternity leave, childcare, and continuing education for their workers.
A few facts we’re proud of:
-
Up to 80% of water used in our denim dyeing process is recycled
-
Our labels are made from recycled yarn and polyester tape
-
All facilities are GRS, OCS, or Oeko-Tex certified
-
We only work with factories that prioritize both people and planet
So yes, our sustainable jeans are made globally—but they’re made thoughtfully. By people we know with values we share.
A Note on Tariffs (And Why We’re Talking About This)
You might’ve seen some recent headlines about tariffs and pricing. We’re watching those closely too.
Right now, we’re holding strong: no price increases, no changes to the way we do business. But we also want to be honest—with rising global costs, things could shift. If they do, we’ll tell you first.
Because transparency is part of the fabric here. (Pun fully intended.)
What It All Means
Where your clothes are made is important. But so is how they’re made—and who makes them.
For us, global manufacturing isn’t about cutting corners. It’s about working smarter, reducing waste, and building partnerships that align with our values. It’s how we’re able to bring you high-quality denim at a price that still feels good. It’s also how we’re able to take care of our U.S employees, contractors, and content creators. So when the jeans look this good, and do some good too? That’s a win all around.
